boot lock on my car has been giving me a lot of bother recently and as given up now, it seems to have seized, i took it of and tried putting a bit of 3 in 1 and wd40 down the key slot and over the mechanism at the back but it wont budge
is there a way of repairing them? i dont really fancy having a different key for the boot..
cheers andy.

I asked exactly the same question down there. Unfortunately the chrome part around the barrel seems to be akey part of the structure, and there's no way of separating it so that you can draw the inner barrel (with tumblers) out for maintanence/recoding. So if it's duff (like mine) it'll need replacing.

Yeah, it is a pain, as I'd just recoded my passenger door and the boot was next on my list. However, considering the lock kit is only 18 quid, you could get a boot lock and key from a scrapper and then redo all the OTHER locks to match. Time consuming, fiddly, but not difficult.
Apparently a code-matched lock from BMW is 90 quid, so if you compare it to that, it makes sense. A full lock kit from someone on here must be less than that.

BigBroom, I don't really appreciate being called a liar. Read the thread again; I've said you can't retumble the boot lock, and I don't mention a price for a replacement boot lock either.
The 18 pounds is for the lock KIT, which is here:

and is available from any dealers or from the parts sellers on this very forum.
