Hi,

Im looking at a 320 convertible auto. Theres a dial near to the handbrake that can be turned to E, S, and 3:2:1 irrc.

Just wondering what this is, im thinking it must have something to do with the diff, ive tried searching but searching but cant find anything?

Cheers!

Ahh ok, it has the 1,2,3 drive on the box though? Whats the need for the little dial thingy?

thanks for the quick reply!

so you can 'switch' the switchable gearbox from either normal 1.2.3 driving to e=economy or s= sport,

these gearboxes are troublesome unfortunately, and when they fail are a pain in the arse :(

Ok, is there any way of testing how well the gearbox is working with this feature?

It looked like it would be troublesome!

just drive it,
have you driven auto before ? if so then it's very much the same .. in sport mode it will 'hold out' in gear a little longer,

if the engine seems to rev higher without the car picking up speed it's slipping, that's not good :(
also check the car selects gears properly when cold,
