Back of the cluster there are two or three multi plugs.
All cars have two, white and blue, cars equipped with an OBC will also have a yellow plug.
Make sure the plugs are properly connected.
A lot of rev counter/MPG meter problems are linked to the service indicator circuit board turning faulty, though.

when have been looking at that but i cant seem to take out the switch so i can make sure they are all connected properl however with the service indicater when i put my ignition on that also lights up will it still do that if it is faulty?

Hi all I dont think luck is on my side! :-(

I fired the car up last night the rev counter worked for a min then went dead same as the service light indicator it works intimitently as in it lights up then doesnt but if that works it dont mean the rev counter works

Anyhow with more pressing concern as the car was on it cut out and whilst trying to start it i could hear it was trying to tick over and it just wouldnt do it but then I hear abit of a bang and then it wouldnt even try to tick over but when i turn the key it just makes a noise but not the noise where its trying start

I think the starter motor may have packed up so i went to have a look and it was all loose

A lot of electrical stuff is fed via the starter,so properly securing that and making sure that the electrical conections are clean and tight may help.
Does sound as if your sevice indicator circuit board is buggered, though, these things have ni-cad or lithium batteries(depending on type) to keep the service indicator working when the car is not in use. These thing fail,and/or leak all over the circuit board.
Cheapest solution is usually a s/h cluster, you can swap your speedo head in if you are fussy about keeping the original milage reading.
