Lost keys help.

Hello. I'm officially an idiot! I threw the keys to my new touring away over the weekend thinking they were the spare keys to the e36 I just scrapped. I need to go and fetch it this week so how hard is it to get in, break the steering lock and start it? Can I order replacement keys with my reg number and how much are they? I know this is a bit dodgy but any help will
be greatly appreciated. If you would rather email the details I will give my email address. Thanks.

Get it recovered and save yourself the hassle of replacing the broken steering lock?
Hope you get it sorted either way.
And I hope the scrap E36 was for an engine donor

You can order new keys from BMW with the V5 and other ID. I can't remember the price, but it's not silly money like some other makes.
Getting in the car and starting it is easy without any damage as long as it is not deadlocked, but the steering presents the greatest obstacle. You either have to break things or deal with headless security bolts.

It is well worth asking BMW how quickly they can get the keys to you, but they won't release them without the full V5 and photo ID - infact I think they wanted my passport.

waiting for a call back from bmw so i'll see what they say. its maily for track use so i dont mind fitting a push button start and having no steering lock.its just not being able to lock the doors is a pain in the arse.
i bought the e36 for drifting but put it into the wall. i was gonna keep the engine and box to put in this touring but i dont have time. a mate will fit a manual conversion for me so i'll do that. thats reminds me, anyone wanna buy an m50 engine and box with ecu? lol.

right, i'm buggered here. they wont give me a new key without the full log book as mentioned above and i only have the new keeper supplement. i'm gonna have to break in and hot wire it as it needs moving by friday. i understand people probably dont want to hand out information about how to break into their cars so i may have to just figure it out myself, but any info you can give me would be great. you are welcome to my mobile number /email if prefered.

cool, my local bmw dealers just let me order a key and pay over the phone. its due in wednesday. came to £25 inc vat, just hope the locks haven't been changed. all they asked for was the chassis number, didn't mention id or anything! i'll take some tools just in case though.

I wouldn't bother going to the dealers without all the ID and vehicle docs you have available. A receipt for the sale should help.

If you have the full docs the dealers are very efficient and can normally get you new keys in about 2 days. Done this a few times

When I tried to a key from the dealers. They could only get me a blank key. As they said the E30 was to old to get cut keys for now.

Hhm, you may be correct there - thinking back I've had keys for my E34's from the dealers
I remember the dealers only being able to supply a blank metal only one, so I ordered the blank keys from a socalmotorsport (via ebay) in the U.S. with plastic bits on etc
Then went to the local key cutter to get them done

Yeah I was trying to get the key with the light. Which came down as a blank key which you fix to a black light fobe. I realy wanted the hole key. That's when they told me they can only get them like that.
