mine was done in 1999 at 81.000miles and I did it again this winter with 162000 and the belt was in a very good condition...probably depends the make of the belt and luck?

it depends how it's been driven too. in theory an engine can be sat at idle and do a billion revolutions and the car will have done 0 miles. a lot of stop / start driving can be a lot worse for an engine than many times the miles at a constant speed.
idle / very low revs are the worst for cambelts as there's quite a lot of shock load going through them as the valve springs fight against or spring round the cam, the motion smooths out at higher revs
