Roof Racks - moving a bike with your E30

Any tips on what works and doesn't work? I'm looking at a ROLA model, GM006 gutter mount racks + BCF2 bike carrier with extension.
Also there is Prorack "Whispbar", a little more expensive but a little more interesting.
