two switches on my radiator at the bottom... what are they ?

Hi. Whilst doing some more renovation work on my engine i noticed the follwoing 2 switches which are located n/s at the bottom of my radiator. Obviously a cable goes to them of some description but what cable is it and where does it go and what switches are they.

that image host is shyte!

they must be some kind of thermostat. Maybe for an aux fan?

They must be thermo switches for somthing, don't know of any E30's fitted with electric fans apart from the aux air con one or maybe on the M3's.

Some hot climate spec cars had an aux fan, mainly US.

Aux fan was generally for extra cooling on AC cars as the AC rad goes in front of the normal rad. AC generally being more common in hot countries therefore it's a hot country spec thing. One would be to control the AC fan the other the eleccy fan on the rad.
