My rev counter is sticky.
When I accellerate it moves normally to 3000rpm, then sticks, then jumps up to 4000. The problem is worse when the car is cold.
At idle it sits at 1200 (but I know that the car is doing 800 or so).
I have replaced the memory board batteries.
Any ideas>?

Anyone got any ideas please?
Should I replace the rev counter/have it rebuilt?

I've got the same problem (ish - revs to 2000 then holds there), so if I find anything out I'll let you know, and if someone else knows something I'll be able to find this thread easily now.

Thanks mate!
When switched off, mine sits at about 300. So Im now thinking that it must be the rev counter itself.
Would be great to hear from anyone who has any ideas!

The SI boards with lithium batteries produce these kind of effects.
I don't think the problem is battery related though. The only cure I've ever tried is simple replacement of the board.

Is there anywhere you know which sells reconditioned service boards (with the new batteries)? Dont fancy changing the batteries again!

BMW dealer!
Second hand boards with lithium batteries don't normally need new batteries.
