Just wondered because theres a new place opening in Liverpool fitting computerised NOS for a mere 1200 quid but he claims that because it's progressive and fed in with fuel it won't melt pistons unlike the good old days of pushing the button to feed your NOS through. Is he telling me porkies to get me NOS my ride ?

BimmerJim had a turbo'd rig pushing about 350bhp on stock bottom end and minor head work, port polish, 3 angle grind and uprated headbolts. Nitrous Oxide setup correctly and not delivering great gobs of instant power is supposed to be safe enough as it doesn't heat the engine up too quickly. That's the advantage of feeding it in with the fuel, the fuel actually cools the combustion chamber down. The problems with the 'good old days' was simply an extreme case of 'leaning out' which isn't good on any engine but is fatal with Nitrous Oxide as the process occurs very very quickly.

Do some reading on the Net, plenty of info out there, some wrong some right but if you read enough you will be able to tell which is right

I looked into this and I spoke to a bloke who fits NOS in doncaster (he actually supplies parts/kit to Wizards of NOS!!

He said the standard 325i engine will run fine with 50/60 bhp jets.

Also it will easily run 100-150 bhp jets with the computer controlled system that gradually increases the amount of nos as the revs increase.

Dale had 125bhp jets on his 325i with a controller and that went rather well. He started at 75 and that was fine although it was either on or off. The controller staged the power against revs and he never had any issues other than the bottle running out
