what lead?

hi, was looking around in the engine bay this moring and noticed a couple of loose leads both coming from the top of the engine block, one runs towards the start of the air filter and has a connector on the end and the other is about 6ins long and has a screw in the end of it!

Does anyone why these are there or what they are for?

the one with the screw is for the air flow menter. the other one hangs down on my m40 too.

i did actually ask this not so long ago. the answer i got was...
