Hi, can anyone tell me if there's any difference between the 325 sport manual gearbox and the standard 325 item or is it just the diff that's different?
Also is there any difference in the auto boxes?
Cheers
Chris

Sport boxes have different ratios, spaced closer together. On the sport box 1st 2nd and 3rd are higher geared (more speed in each gear) 4th and 5th are the same, it gets rid of the hole between 2nd and 3rd. As you mentioned there is also the diff ratio to consider.
Auto boxes are completely different, they change gear for you
Sorry, there is a sport and non sport options with the auto, the only time i think an auto box comes into its own is town driving, for everything elst they are inferior IMO which is why I changed my auto to a sport manual box.
cheers maggs

Yeah I'm not a fan of auto boxes but I have one sat in the garage that i took out to swap for a manual, and as the car is a bit of an enigma i'm not sure if it's a sport box or not. Car seems to be full sport spec bar the headlining but isn't a sport on the logbook

The sport auto box would have a switch by the hand brake with positions, S, 123 and E

The number/letters you need to look for is on the edge of the bell housing and is stamped on not part of the casting. You are looking for TNN or HM if my memory serves me
