Leaking oil cooler/filter housing on 325i M20B25!

Yup its leaking, but not where the pipes bolt into the housing as i first thought.
But from the circular casting on the underside of the housing, there looks to be a cir clip in there and that is where the oil is leaking from.
Is there a pack of washers and o rings under that cir clip?
Hopefully it just needs o rings or something.
Has anyone had this drama or rebuilt one of these??
I would like to retain the oil cooler as here in sunny Queensland its 30 degrees C on a mild day. And those mild days are for trackdays.

Yep, just take the housing off and replace all the rubber bits - check realOEM website for the diagram and to show you what you need to get from the dealers.
Costs pennies!

There is a replacement kit of modified parts for this. About £4 or so, IIRC.
The new O ring is made of a different material and is a different shape, and will provide a permanent cure.
Don't let the thermostat drop out when you remove the clip and cover.

Also remember the seal half way along the central banjo bolt.
You will need the items 2 4 5 and 7 to do the job fully.

Why would you disturb 2, 4 and 5 to replace 7?

To do the job properly Brian. If one parts leaking, you can bet the rest is in need of attention if not now, in the near future. For the cost I'd do the lot.

The part that is leaking is doing so as a result of a design fault, which is addressed by the modified replacement parts! Nothing else in the area needs attention.

You have to admit though Brian, addressing the part in question is a damn sight easier with the entire part on the bench than trying to compress that spring with it on the car. And all the other parts get done and become worry free.
I'd do the lot and be done with it. Takes 5 minutes to remove the entire assembly, 10 mins on the bench max and another 5 to 10 to put it back. I've seen people struggle for hours on their back trying to compress that spring and replace the circlip with it all on the car.
