Hi,

Probably a stupid question, but Does the ICV affect the idle when cold. My 316 M40 messes about like mad when its cold then seems to sort it self out when its warmed up.

Also can anybody explain what happens to an M40 engine when sarted cold is there a cold start injector etc.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Russ

yes, the ICV affects the idle when cold. If it's messing about, try giving it a good clean out with carb cleaner - you should be able to hear the insides click round if you give it a shake.

Can't help with the info on a cold start injector though!

The M40 doesn't have a cold start injector...less to go wrong! :D

Thats a bugger, I was hoping that might be a reason :) . I have changed the cold start sensor, but it still don`t want to idle when its cold :?

This is such a common problem with these engines, and i know from experience!

I'm NOT suggesting you do this, but i broke into my AFM and adjusted the spring setting on the flap...but this was after checking and replacing everything first. It seems to have worked though :D

I've just looked for the site that covers this, but i cant find it! :(

No worries, I will have a hunt around and see what I can find. Cheers for the advice

Check the air hose from the ICV to the main air hose isn't cracked. I was having similar issues til I replaced mine.
