E30 Zone

I suspect that mine is on the way out. Rather than replacing it with another the same, is there a worthwhile alternative that would provide slightly more assistance? Nowt wrong with the E30 setup when that's all you use, but jumping in it is a little frightning when you drive a more modern car every day!

Twin servo from an E34 or E32

I have just been looking into these twin servos, I can get hold of an e34 m5 one. is the bolt pattern the same as the e30?

Tell us more Dan - which cars are suitable for plundering, what's needed to fit, how big are they, how much more assistance...?!

loads more assistance, they fit straight on. Google it, they do this in other countries as cheap brake upgrades

Looks promising, but I've only managed to find bits & pieces about it so far... Annoyingly the most promising suggestion seems to be that an E32 735i servo & MC are a good combo - I kinda hope the ones that I scrapped on an E34 535i wouldn't have worked!

Do you have any links Dan? & do you know if it's usually done with the E30 or E32/34 MC?

What is the rest of your brake system like? I drove a brand new vaxhaull Insignia the other day ( ) and the brakes were shocking compared to those on my E30.

Yup, E30 will stop fairly quickly but I was seriosuly unimpressed with the stopping power of the "car of the year". To be fair it was so slow it didn't really need brakes!

looking at it spose it wont fit in an m50 conversion even if it was moved over a bit?

Don't mistake a bigger (diaphragm area) servo for a brake 'upgrade'! It will do nothing for the brakes whatsoever, other than reduce the pedal effort for wimps.
Serious racing machinery has far better brakes than any road car, but pedal pressures of up to 100kg aren't unusual.
The E30 was designed in an era when women (alledgedly) still knew their place, very little thought was given by car designers towards making their cars female friendly, and the pedal weight was chosen by BMW to be the optimum that public opinion at the time demanded.
In these more enlightened times, car design is aimed much more at the female half of the public, as well as the elderly, etc. and pedal pressures have been reduced accordingly.
