E30 Zone

This might be a silly question, i fitted a LHD talbot sunbeam steering rack (a quick rack) onto my E30 several years ago. It works a treat but i have bent a track rod (not the trackrod end but the piece it screws onto to). I used BMW track rods / and ends, when i have looked into buying one they say they are either N/S or O/S, looking at my car / trackrods they look the say, any one know why they are "sided"?

Same part.

Just did mine with a new rack on a 325 - both were the same. The threads went the same way and there was no difference on the ball joint.

On real oem you can see that the part numbers for each end are the same too:
