ahh paper clip in the ignition could help yes.
Would a non working temp gauge and rev gauge be the workings of dead SI board batteries?

They could well be yes. whip them out and check, if they're shot, there will most lilely be goo from the batteries all over the place.

Oh, if you can concentrate on your grammar a bit, you'll get along a lot better on here. you've had a rough start but seeing as you're back despite the bans etc, i guess the E30 bug has you in it's grasp and it's worth putting the effort in on here as you'll recieve a lot more help if people can read your posts without having to 'translate' the text speak

oh and if the witty grammar police find anything incorrect in that statement, please note i've just got back from the pub and had too many double vodka red bull's to get to sleep yet :D

ho hum.

to answer your questions yes all symptoms above except the fuel light/guage are affected by the SI batteries. thus changing them would be your first step. the fuel gauge is working as it is showing empty, this is confirmed by the fuel light being on. the guage and light have seperate senders and are not related to the SI batteries.

fill the tank and change the batteries and AFTER this come back with any developments.

Is english your second language? I cant understand what you are trying to say here

Try jamming a paper clip in somewhere....
Excellent memory Will..

Armanib, I pulled the batteries out of my SI board and then put the cluster back in without them.. Everything works fine now. You dont need the batteries in it... When they fail brianmooore says they cause a short, removing the batteries removes the short. When the cluster has no batteries the only thing that dosnt work is the service lights... If you service your E30 regularly you dont need the lights to remind you anyway..

So it is ok to remove the SI board/batteries permanently from the cluster without affecting other gauges then I don't understand how the SI board can affect other gauges when the batteries failed.

Sorry I am not very good with electrical stuff :o:
