Just had my car fail on the emmisions, its 4.2 when the maximum is 3.5. During a previous restoration I had the throttle bodies apart so it would therefore benefit from a tuning. Is anyone aware of anybody in the Wakefield/ Leeds / West yorkshire area who knows what they are talking about. Most garages say I can leave it so they can have a mess with it which I presome means thrash it round the block.

Lol so true! Don't leave it and get a good crew on it. There's a guy on here that's pretty solid but he's in Bristol at CasltleCombe racetrack - Shepsevo is his ID.
I know he's far but he also has an M3 and has done countless E30's.
Good luck.

Its a nightmare, I have taxed it for the six months and used it so far for two days, what ever happened to old school mechanics. I hate these little things that are out of your control.

Perhaps I am missing something here, but if the M3 is still running standard engine management, surely this is just a duff lambda sensor causing the ECU to overfuel. No great rocket science involved.
As a complete aside from someone living very close to Combe, does anyone know exactly where this Shepsevo works? Is he at Circuit Motors perhaps, as I need to find someone experienced to help me with an ECU limphome issue.
Martin.

Yes the car is standard except for Miltek exhaust which replaced the original non cat exhaust. Neither had nor have a lambda sensor although the miltek does have provision for one.

I assume you've changed the oil, checked the shims, exhaust gaskits arent blowing, good clean air filter, not been sat for months and not run. You've got it upto temp and blown any nice soot out the exhaust which has settled?
