Early E30's, any different structurally?

I'm looking at buying another E30 for a bit of a project. I wondered if there are any strucutural changes to the E30 between chrome bumper models and later models, for example are the suspension mounting points and geometry the same across all years? Do the chrome bumper models suffer particularly in any aspect of handling etc?

No changes. The only bit that changed as regards fitting the mechanicals is that the later prop centre bearing mounts are closer together.

The early chrome models didn't have the vents in the boot behind the rear bumper quarters, but that doesn't affect handling etc..
