I have a 86 320i convertible that will not fire up. It will continue to crank over and over again but wont fire up. It only has 91k Miles on it. I am getting spark. I was wondering on the l-jetronic system sif you turn to the key should the fuel system pressurize? The only way I can seem to get to the fuel pump to run is to hot wire it 30 to 87b on the relay pins. Any help is appreciated!

have you ever had the fuel run very very low? as it can damage the fuel pump at this age, I had this with mine, the fuel pump would prime but would just crank and not start up, i changed the fuel pump and was fine since

I have only owned the car for about 3 weeks. It was running great. When I hot wire to two 30 and 87 pings together the fuel pump runs like a champ and i hear the lines pressurize. When I tried cranking the car and then I took out hte plugs and they didnt no smell of any fuel. Maybe my fuel injections are not spray. How can I test if my fuel injectors are spraying if the car wont start?

when you took the plugs out after you try to start it, were the spark plugs covered in fuel? did they look wet? i know you said you dint smell fuel, if they are covered in fuel, it may be over pressuring the system,
am not sure how to check injectors to be honest, i,ve only ever known to take the rail out and show to a injector specialist.
my thougts are to be the fuel pump, may the return valve is faulty on it,
try starting the car without the relay?? see what happens, should fire for a few seconds
