what is the actual topspeed the car can run at 6750rpm in 5th on a non sport 325i gearbox and a 3.64 diff - standard tyre size

162.675mph. You'd need mega power to get it there though.
24.1mph/1000rpm in 5th.

23.390 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 157.884 MPH at 6750 RPM

Assuming 5 gear is 0.84
Tyres 205 55 15

In that case you are correct I didn't have a manual to hand and used the figures for a Getrag 240/5

Manufacturers set speedos based on a 3% tyre slippage on the road, which might be worth bearing in mind if your sat-nav says different. . . but with 750bhp you'll have broken something before you get there winkeye

does anyone have any specs of gear ratios on BMW boxes? in my case, E34 M30 530 and 535i boxes are of interest :D

IIRC there was one car on here that was timed with proper gear and got to 165, but that had over 300bhp.
I'm no expert, but I'd have thought for every 10mph above that figure, you'd need another 100bhp.
