320i exhaust dilemma

Hey all again.
My 320 touring has developed a hole in the exhaust and i'm trying to work out the best way to resolve the problem.
The front section consists of the downpipe and cat/silencer - has two pipes in two pipes out, does a g reg 320 have a cat? Then there is a centre section which is bolted to the front section by two flanges with gaskets, then the backbox is joined to the centre somewhere i guess?
Anyway my centre & rear system is virtually brand new.
The leak is in the top of the front box where the pipes go into it, it's a small hole rusted through that i could probably gun gum for the time being.
Anyway, is it a cat? Can i fit a non cat downpipe from a different model and still pass the emissions test? If so what model?
While i have your attention, my steering column lower UJ section appears to have a massive amount of play in it, as they tend to do. Where is the cheapest place to get a brand new one?
Look forward to some words of wisdom as always on here!
Cheers
Alex
