If I remember correctly there are screws that hold it on from the inside.

If its the B-pillar one you're removing you remove the seatbelt top hanger and the coat hook from inside and there will be two 10mm nuts you can get at with a small socket. Undo those and you should be able to (gently) pry off the trim.

Not got as far as fitting it back on yet. Maybe somebody else can shed some light on this? I was hoping it'd just push back into place.

The first part of this E30 Wiki page on removing rear quarter windows might help

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... er_Windows

I did it a while back, don't remember any problems

put the window right down and then pull out the rubber seal that sits in the door, where glass sits when closed! you'll see some small clips inside the door upright (sits next to b pillar) that you can open with a flat bladed screwdriver then it should just pull off , bein careful not to bend it, unclip the side nearest back wheel first, you may need to partly remove top and bottom trims as they slightly overlap they are clipped on with the same clips! pretty por description sorry but i hope it helps

stereotemps, did you have any luck getting the rear quarter trim back on? The time has come for me to refit mine and, as you say, it isn't wanting to push on. Did you have to take the glass out?

I've just done it so I can answer my own question: Yes, the window does come out first.
