Hi all

Cheers Dom :D

Ps Were can I get a light weight fly wheel from??????

throw it in the bin.
They aren't any good.I have used one to increase fuel pressure when i was using a schrik cam.
Normal is 3 bar

do you mean the fse? what's the matter with it and what boost valve would you recommend for a 325/327?

bless

Your car came with a fuel pressure regulator fitted as standard. Why do you think BMW would fit one that feeds the injectors at the wrong pressure?
Similarly, the air filter arrangement. K&N stuff, in my experience, is particularly badly designed, and will probably lose you power.

All a bost valve does in richen the micture for more power you need more fuel and more air into the engine

just removed mine as any changes i made made the car run lumpy with rough idle and less throttle response. Fitted the standard one for my mot and it runs perfect. FSE is going in the bin!

On the plus side, they sell well on the bay!

as i always say in cases like this, 2 different garages refused to work on my engine with an FSE valve fitted and would only touch it once the cosworth regulator was refitted.

i just can't suss this topic out when ever it comes up :?

i've had one fitted to my sport for the last 3 yr's (infact it was on the car when i got it) & i've never had any problem's with it.

can somone answer this for me?

if they are no good & cause engine fires bore wash etc etc etc then why are they still on sale???

if that was the case then surely trading standards would have stepped in & stop them from being made &/or sold??

surely sombody must know the truth??

I think the answer to your question is that it comes down to the systems that are poorly set up and fitted by Wayne in Macy D's car park because he's 'done it loads of times'.

Installed for the correct reasons (I.E. on a modified engine with custom management where it maybe required to adjust fueling to get the best mapping etc) and properly, then they're suited and do work.

That you know of! You've probably put 100,000 miles worth of wear on the bores and rings in that time.

Because there's always been, and always will be, good money to be made selling rubbish to the gullible!

The advertisements and claims are carefully worded to remain just inside the law, or they operate on the 'get in quick, get the money, and get out quick' principle.

Still doesn't need an adjustable regulator.
All that's required is a fixed regulator with sufficiently high pressure to enable the chosen injectors to provide sufficient fuel into the cylinders under the engine conditions that demand the most fuel.
Once a regulator/injector combination is chosen, the fueling is adjusted electronically by varying the injector pulse width at all engine load/speed conditions, and building up a fuel map.

Quite right too, the electronics are the place to make changes to your fueling!

And even if you did find that you need more fuel pressure, you can take a standard reg and squeeze it in a vice to give more fuel pressure. Costs all of 0p to do that :)
