Hi ,
E30 M3 S14 2.3 1988 ,I have a problem with overfuelling I think , If i rapidly put the accelator all the way to the floor my car starts missing like crazy but if i gently accelarate she'll go all the way to 6500rpm without missing but then starts to miss again from 6500rpm to the limiter (if it reachs the limiter). Also sometimes when i turn off the ignition the engine attempts to keep running for a couple of seconds ,would this be a timing issue and if so how would do you adjust the timing? Can you adjust the timing?
Anyways its driving me crazy along with the buzz off the gearstick above 4000rpm which I would also like a fix for if anyone else has had this problem.
Please someone tell me what to do 8O 8O .

have you had a look under the dizzy cap?? M3's do not overfuel usually, most of the time a ignition issue. Also check the baro sensor (oval little box next to the AFM).
Any vacuum leaks? (let it idle and spray brake or carb cleaner around inlet manifold)

Agreed; sounds like an ignition problem to me.

I have seen M3's running with completely destroyed runners in the dizzy.

Not on a bmw, but missus fiesta had exactly the same issue and it was the MAF, changed that and it ran perfect.

So could it be the AFM on yours? Good time to alpha-n it

First of all thanks for the help.
I removed the dizzy , the contacts were black where the rotor contacted them but didnt have a groove worn in them ,I presume thats normal? and the king lead contact with the center of the rotor was slightly dicoloured but not black ,normal too i presume .(I presume alot).I cleaned up the king lead contact with a piece of emery but the other contacts would take alot of sanding to get down to the copper colour again so I didnt bother.I drove the car afterwards and it was alot better for about 12miles then it went back to missing again with a kindof warbling sound for an exhaust note when the accelerator was rapidly pressed.
Based on the above info should I replace the distributor cap and rotor? I dont know if this matters but before i bought the car it had harly been driven at all in the previous 12 months.
Cheers.
