taking a head off

hey is there a specificate way i should take the head off the car its a m20 325

a good tip would be to use tipex so you know what goes where when your putting it back on !

Or take a couple of photos first.
Spray some WD40 on the exhaust manifold first.
But pretty much everything is bolt on/off.
Mark the timing up and all should be a piece of cake.

I don't know if it's necessary but I always crack the head bolts off in the reverse sequence to tightening.
Another thing I do when it's time to put the head back on is to set the block to TDC 1 then wind it back about 1/8 of a turn, then fit the head, with the pistons down the bores you can turn the cam to it's timing mark and then time the block to it's mark (these engines are clearly marked), fit the belt then re-check, turn it over by hand a few times then re-check, then check the tension and timing again.
