steering rack question

hi there
i just got a e36 steering rack do i need the e36 steering coupling thing that joins the rack to steering column, or can i use the 1 of my e30 thanks, ive read the wiki article but im pretty stupid,

You can use the e30 one. just use the front mounting holes in the subframe. You will need to elongate the holes a bit or remove the rubber donut in the coupling and bolt the two pieces together.

What implications does removing the rubber guibo have? I assume they are there for a reason and have seen the group buy for solid guibos...
Apart from shortening the steering coupling and, I assume, stiffening it up, does it have any other impacts?

No its fine just make sure you use new nyloc nuts
