In relation to ECU's...

so would this mean a 173 inplace of a 380 would let her turn over and start?

the problem I'm having is the cabriolet is cranking over and not starting... shes getting fuel but no spark, we traced the problem back to the coil... when fed direct power to the coil the relay's click and she fires.

although when we replaced the brain with a 173 and repeated the same experiment to which the relay didn't click at all and didn't start?

am i right in saying there are subtle differences in pin assignment?

Basically I'm thinking that the pin that assigns my coil to switch on with my 380 ecu has for some reason become dud... and I've bought another 380 ecu to try just incase. would, or even SHOULD a 173 ecu allow her to start?

According to Speedtouchs quote, yes.
E34 x 1 - V8 + lots of CF
E30 x 2 - Tourings (1 x M50, 1 x M40)
RS6 C5 - Stage 1 remap - 500bhp
