Can someone help me out with a part number. I need the switch/transistor for the blower. Its like a small, long black plastic box with holes down it and a coiled spring inside if you know what im talking about. Its for a 89 325i sport

It's nothing to do with the headlamps.
Does this car have aircon?

Factory fitted or dealer fitted? (Does it have a slatted grill at the front of the front centre console, where most E30's have a storage area?)

It is the resistor that gives the different fan speeds for the heater/aircon motor, and since this is dealer fitted aircon (fitted after the car was built), entering the VIN into the ETK may not bring up the correct part number.
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago, where a member posted up a picture of this resistor that is apparently mounted on the front battery tray. Presumably, as part of the aircon fitting process into the heater box, the resistor (which normally lives just below the fan motor in pre facelift heaters), has to be evicted to make room for something else.
This resistor MAY be the same as the one that is fitted internally to pre facelift heater boxes, (it looks similar) or it may be a different part.
