....... what is the prefered compression ratio for 2.7 M20s???

Apologies if this is has been discussed on previous threads. I am very new to the M20 and am being extrremely lazy in terms of searches.

Has anyone achieved over 220bhp from a 2.7 M20? If so, if you do not mind discussing in a public forum how are achieving such results? The reason I ask is because I am in midst build of a new 2.7 M20 and am concerned my new build is not going to be much quicker than the existing lump.... see video..

My request for help... is as follows!

The M3 in front on the video is running circa 260BHP +++...

without buying an S14 how do we keep the M20s alive and kicking and prove 6 pots are better than S14s ???

Constructive help only on a postcard to:

DeloreAN@M20BMW.CO.UK

Or by PM.. :-)

Other videos avialble on You

Prove an M20 Better than a S14 ?????

Thats a big ask.........

Lite and powerfull will always be better than heavy and powerfull..

you could make an M20 beat the S14 on the straights...But the S14 will sail pass you in the corners...

Well lets at least give it a go :-) I undertsand the complexity of the weight advantage in the corners however my driving style seems to suit the heavy old 6 pot up front.... If you have a look at the vids the old girl doesnt do bad in the corners for a heavy old M20 up front. The M3 can be caught, the old girl just need more grunt and better brakes ( Brakes being addressed now). Chaps... thoughts on obtaing more power.... anyones know what the EVO Sport 325s in SA were running for racing purposes? Didnt they homologate the 2.7 325 for racing as the M3 didnt make SA ???

Pm march109 he knows about tuning m20s. Otherwise stop racing cars that are faster and try racing DRIVERS with similar power cars.

Further to my earlier reply on the other thread, I've just seen the TTRS Draft 2009 regs and frankly, I'd say you were stuffed!
Reason is that ITB's are now banned unless original fitment. M20's of any capacity will have to breathe through single body and plenum, although design of these items is free.
No mention at all of carbs, which is odd, as last year carbs were free on any engine.
It looks to me as if they'e copying the regs from CTCRC pre'93's, which made these changes last year. Bit of a p***er if you've got a car already running multiple carbs or bodies, or as in our case, you're building a car and the regs change (despite being told in writing only last october that bodies were legal). :x
Hey - Ho.
(Edit) The S.A. 325 Sport gave 195 bhp running a 9.8:1 comp ratio, according to my info.
So in answer to your original premise, I reckon that the only thing thats going to beat an M3 in TTRS is.................................................................... another M3.

Kim

p.s. Shorty73 if you're out there, does this mean you don't wand the carbs anymore?
Or am I jumping the gun on the regs?
