Worn driveshaft?

Clunking noise when I engage the throttle, and a clunking noise when I release the throttle, coming from the offside rear. My first thought is a worn driveshaft. Can someone back me up on this and more importantly convince me its not the LSD I've just fitted to the car.
Cheers,
J

Was it not there before you fitted the diff?

Car has been off the road for two and a half years. I do vaguely remember a noise from back then but it seems to have naturally escalated. It definately sounds like its coming from the offside rather than from the middle of the car.

I'm having this same problem... looks like I'm gonna be taking the LSD off to rule it out! So far I have changed rear bearings, backplates, h'brake shoes, discs, prop and the NS drive shaft!!
Your right though... the sound does seem to be coming from the offside!
My noise escalates with speed though, no clunking on accel/decel.
Have you checked your prop centre bearing?

Noise esclating with speed sounds more likely to be diff related to me. Is it more of a whine or a clunk? Had any luck fixing it? I've had mine up and down on the ramp a few times but everything seems tight and secure, and no play in anything..
Think the noise is getting louder though as I'm continuing to drive it in the hope that it will either go away or will make itself obvious!
Prop centre bearing seems fine, I haven't got round to removing the shielding to have a proper look but that's my next move..
