E30 Zone

Just gona replace the fuel filter on my 91 e30 325i sport and was wondering if anyone had any instructions or tips for me as i have heard you have to bleed the fuel lines or something with these cars? Any advice would be appreciated thanks

never heard of that before just crank over till the engine starts is what i normally do no problems at all

only cars you need to "kind of bleed" is diesels without a self primer

Usually all diesels need bleeding. I've never had a diesel that hasn't needed bleeding after fuel pump has been replaced.

my step dad ran a diesel mazda import thing, out of fuel and it was a self priming diesel so just put diesel in and restart it

Strange I've worked on a lot of new cars and all needed bleeding.

My dad's old Astra van needed bleeding which was 'self priming'.

not all oil burners need bleeding citroen and shite like that have the hand primer under the bonnet near the fuel filter

well my understanding of a self priming diesel fuel pump is that it will suck the diesel throught the pipes straight to the engine without the need for you to fill the pipes with fuel first, to prime a diesel you squeeze a little black rubber thing to fill the pipes with diesel a self priming does it for you

It supposedly does that, but in my experience, it don't.

Your engine is designed to bleed itself. I think it's the regulator which helps to bleed air out of the system. I took my fuel filter out at the side of the road a few weeks ago and when i put it in it started more or less on the button. All air in the system was gone after about 10 miles. (bubble in my in-line filter dissapeared)

One of the simplest jobs to do too.

You do need to pull the fuse to the fuel pump then run the engie till it conks out prior to doing this, so I believe
