I'm looking to buy Tomson's fuel tank, but he said it has 2 senders. I'm sure when i last had the tank off there was only one sender. Were pre-facelift tanks different then? Mine is the 55 litre tank.
Thanks in advance,
Max

pop up your back seat and lift up the grey stuff and see how many plates you have under there with screws in
1 behind your seat is same as mine,,,1,behind the pass seat aswell =2 holes....could be a pain to sort out plumbing.
if you have only one hole your pump will be u/s and you will need all of other tank and patients of a saint to plumb it in.

55 litre tanks are fitted with a combined fuel pump and level sender on the RH side.
62 litre tanks have a combined fuel pump and level sender on the RH side, and another level sender on the LH side.
The reason for the two senders is that the 62 litre tank doesn't have a balance pipe, and the fuel levels can differ in the two halves of the tank.
The fuel pump used with the 55 litre tank has two pipes on it. The one on the 62 litre tank has only one.
A two pipe pump can be used on a 62 litre tank, provided the second pipe is blanked off, and the pipe that was connected to it re routed to a stub pipe on the side of the 62 litre tank. If you don't re route this pipe, you will only be able to use the fuel in the RH side.
A single pipe fuel pump assembly cannot be used in a 55 litre tank, as there will be nowhere to connect the return line from the fuel rail, although the basic pump can be swapped between the two types.
The level senders that fit into both type of pumps are identical.
A 62 litre tank can be used with just a single level sensor, but the indicated level will vary a bit, depending on the respective levels in the two halves.
The fuel gauge in the instrument cluster is different between the two tanks.

Thanks Brianmoooore, great info as ever!
Sorry to ask more questions after that but if i get the 2 senders/single pipe fuel pump with the tank, will i be able to make this work on my early car? There will be a pipe hanging loose won't there? And i'm going to need a facelift instrument cluster too?
Cheers,
Max

so you will need to fit one for a 62 litre (6 pot) tankThe fuel gauge in the instrument cluster is different between the two tanks.
