Just noticed when cleaning my car, under the mat on the passenger side footwell is a damp patch of water.

Anyone familiar with this problem? as I cannot figure out where it is coming from.

Thanks

Very popular problem (have it myself!) - do a quick search and all will be revealed

You'll probably end up taking your carpets out to have a good look

you should post a question: anyone with no water in footwels? :D

I would suggest cleaning sunroof drains but I don't think you leave opened sunroof on rainy day

Can you see where the water is coming from? Is it coming from the bulkhead or is it coming down the side by the speaker?

I cant really, the swimming pool is there by the time I come to my car. Someone did suggest drying the floor and sprkinling talc to try and see where its tracking in from as my carpets are already out so they dont get mouldy and smell. Trouble is the paint on my floorpan looks minty mint so its sometimes hard to tell wether its just good paint or wet good paint.
Is it coming from the bulkhead or is it coming down the side by the speaker?

By bulkhead iw ould assume you mean firewall? How might it be getting in from down by the speaker?

Have you tried removing the front wheelarch liner and looking at the state of the front end of the sills/floorpan?

This is the crap I've just had to sort out (on both sides);

By the speaker means it could be coming from the roof or sun roof drains. If you tip water into your grill on your scuttle on the passanger side and then get in your car and watch where it is coming from. That is what I have been doing with mine. I have removed the carpet, centre consol and glove box on the passanger side of mine. I have now noticed that the leak is coming through the gasket for the heater matrix so I am going to remove the dash this week end to sort it.

Is the elepant trunk blocked? What happens when you tip water into the passanger side grill? Does water come through from up behined the glove box?

Its in the drivers foot well for me too. Its coming through the heater matrix when I tip water in the grill so I am going to change the gasket for it. You really need to tip water through the grill and watch where it is dripping down into the footwell.

I have same issue - but have noticed hissing steam and rusty water on beige carpet. Ripping carpet out and looking to replace heater matrix. Last item left to replace in cooling circuit. Anyone know cost and procedure or links to instructions.. Ta PS it's an Alpina C2 2.7i (grin grin :-))

mine was heater matrix, leaking at the control valve, about £150 for new part i think, also had rain water blown through passenger door rubber seal on wet windy days, took a while to find that....

Its worthwhile you take out ur carpets, and while you do that make sure you waxoyl it.

With me it came from above the glove compartment, through the lining of the wheel arch as someone said ;-)

AAAARRGHHHHH this is driving me up the bloody wall. Car has been stood for about 1 week, came out to the car and rear passenger footwell, where all the water collects becuase its the lowest part of the car and the carpet is out, was about 3 inches deep.

Its embarassing when my mates get in now
