Viscous coupling - where from?

I think I need a new viscous coupling.
Where's the best place to get one from?
Do they vary in quality according to manufacturer?

I replaced mine three or four years ago with one from German & Swedish. Make sure there are no leaks when you buy it and make sure that it remains upright in it's box (sounds silly) until you fit it....... Still working fine. The only difficult bit is getting the old one off as it is a reverse thread and needs a very slim 32mm spanner. I now have one of these as my bro bought one but not sure where he got it? I'm sure someone else will know though.

I'd be more concerned about it staying upright while still in the custody of GSF!
Plenty of second hand ones in scrapyards.

How much is an electric fan conversion and what's involved?

Looking on TIS and DIS (bmw workshop systems) This is nolonger an issue with storage(service note from 1996 I think). Maybe they changed the design as making sure they were stored and transported vertically must be a PITA.

A lot more than just changing the coupling, plus it will be a lot more unreliable.

GSF do two qualitys of fan coupling,I am trying both at the moment, the cheap option is on the 316i,the better quality one on the 2.7.Both have been fitted at least 6 months and have given no trouble,yet..
