iv just started a manual conversion on my 87 325i ....... easy apart from it wont start ! the auto box had 2 sensors ,what seamed to be crank angle sensors on the starter motor side of the box i drilled the holes for them , put a trigger pick up onto the fly wheel but cant get it to spark
i have been told by a local bmw specisist that i need a early box and fly wheel to acomidate the sesors and to have the trigger pickup .... or is there a easer / cheaper way of geting around this ?

the only other was is change the front crank toothed pully and put a crank senser on the front of the engine you may need a different engine loom for this too

Don't even attempt to use the primitive early system! Fit the crank pulley, crank position sensor, engine loom, oil pressure switch and ECU from a facelift 320 or 325 with a 55 pin ECU. If you use the 320 ECU, you ill need to fit a 325 chip to it.

wiring wise is it just a plug and play affair :D

Plug and play, depending on whether you have the late type 20 pin engine loom socket in your car. If not, the socket needs changing, plus a simple bit of rewiring.
Also check out my 'wiring warning' sticky in the engine swaps forum.

i decided that im going to change the box for the moment as a mate has just given me the right box, i just need the right flywheel with the trigger pickup on .... would tacking a small strip of steel to the flywheel suffice

cheers nick
