E30 Zone

Just about to do the valve clearances on my 2.5 M20.....got the new gasket.....The Haynes book of lies says to use an RTV sealant as well but the online manual doesn't mention it. Is a sealant neccesarry or is it just creating more work?

You don't need a sealant just evenly, in sequence torque the nuts to 10Nm.

Thanks. That's exactly what I did and I've got no leaks. On taking the old one off it was clear that no sealant had ever been used before and I had 2 pristine mating faces. Sealed perfectly.
