battery replacement & idle speed

I replaced my battery today, started the car, let it warm up and noticed that the idle speed is just above 500rpm. Took it for a short spin to the shops, couple of miles there and back, no change. The idle speed was perfect before the battery change.

Has the battery replacement reset the ECU or something? if so, does the car need to travel a certain distance to learn new parameters?

thanks
Arthur

Disconnecting the battery resets the ecu. Let it idle for 10 minutes to help it relearn how to idle.
