E30 Zone

Hi,
I have just purchased a 6 button obc (thanks adit) to fit in place of the analogue clock.

I used the "search" (all 18 pages...), I understand the following:
*black plug = gong
*white plug = temperature sensor
*green plug = back of 6 button obc

question is this - what happens to the old clock plug, does it just hang loose or is connected somewhere?

where does the other end of the green plug connect to?? I understand that to fit the 6 button does not involve removing the instruments.

old clock plug just hangs about, I'm sure you need to connect the green plug to the back of the instruments, maybe wrong tho

ok, loom has arrived and there is also a yellow plug in addition to the others.

Any ideas where it plugs into?

Yellow plug is the one that goes into the back of the instrument cluster, green one goes into the OBC.
Most functions will work with just these two plugs in place.
Just leave the old clock plug hanging, or cable tie it up to the loom if you're fussy. There's plenty of other unused plugs hanging off an E30 loom.

i take it then that the old instrument cluster plug also hangs loose.

Unless you already have an OBC fitted, the yellow socket should be unused!

have not taken out the instruments yet, presumed one replaced the other.

Started to fit this this morning and success everything works perfectly.

Thanks for the great write up it was really useful. Whole installation from start to finish took two hours including tidying up some wiring under the steering column from an old alarm system. only negative point was doing the installantion in 40 degree temperatures. Never mind, at least the thermometer is accurate!!
