Stripped an E30 down to the last nut and bolt for weighing in. Just looked at the latest scrap price index and its a minefield of different types. Before the scrappy sees me coming from a long way off can someone tell me generally what metal is what on an E30 i.e what type of scrap would the steel body parts be classed as and, apart from the cylinder head, what other parts are made of aluminium.

Cheers

Christ I normally drive them down as a whole car, collect some crisp pound notes and walk off. Seems much easier.

Ah, if only life was that easy. It was going to be a resto but head finally overruled heart. Up on jacks, no undercarriage, so it was half way there already.

In my experince with scrappies it will be light/mixed metal, and you would of got more without stripping the rate per ton for a bare shell will be the same as the rate for complete car. The interior etc all make up the wieght.

The only high rate stuff will be alloy i.e head manifold etc stripped of any other metal or plastics.
