hi all,
can any of you tell me why two small bore water pipes go into the throttle housing on the m20 325.
cheers

Stops it icing up. Not much use in the UK. Just saps power.

anyone here bypassed it . surely that would lower intake temps ?

I have bypassed it with no problems.Obtained a length of suitable hose from my local motor factor to replace the two bits that link the thermostat housing to the rear of the head.See no point in forcing cold air into the T/B to have it heated....

Cold air is denser and so contains more oxygen in any given volume.

i undid the two pipes on the tb and used a piece of 8mm copper pipe to join the two pipes, tightened the clips and bleed system . hasn't leaked job done

On my L-Jet I disconnected the hoses from the TB and was able to direct the hose straight from the slider valve to the thermostat (If I recall correctly) losing a hose in the process.
I'd doubt you'd notice much gains as the intake temperature is measured before the air passes through the tb. Must help a little though?

this is an old trick but based on my experience doesn't make a noticeable difference on an m20 doesn't do any harm though.

Cold air is more dense and so you need more energy to move through it so whilst you gain in engine power you lose in drag.
