how do i test the rear wiper squirter on my touring? the washer bottle in the boot is full, fuse 26 is not blown but when i press wth button to activate no water comes out.

is there a relay or motor to test?
should i hear a noise when i press the button??

they often block up inside the centre of the axle for the wiper iteself. try removing the plastic 'nozzle' section and have a poke down the hole then try again.

you shuld be able to hear a noise but it's not very loud....

Pull the wash/wipe switch out of the dashboard, and unplug it. Use a piece of wire to link together the brown/black and brown wires. Washer should run with the ignition switch in position 1 or 2.
Note that this is NOT mimicking the action of the switch.

No! There is a wiping contact and semi circular steel plate inside the wiper gearbox, that allows the washer motor to work when the wiper arm is sweeping in one direction only, similar in design to the mechanism that is used to park the front windscreen wiper.
The washer fluid is piped through the gearbox, and tends to leak a bit, which rusts up the semi circular plate, thus putting the pump out of action.
Your two choices are either to open up the gearbox and see if it is restorable, or to cut the black/purple wire at the switch a couple of inches from the switch, and to connect the end from the switch permanently to the brown wire (earth).
The only difference this mod will make is that the washer will work when the wiper sweeps both ways.
