viabration in 1st and 2nd??

since ive sorted my 325i engine out in my touring ive been giving it more stick.......
when i accelarate hard in 1st or second i get a rotational viabration that shakes the rear to middle of the car.
and at the hight of the viabration some thing knocks with the viabration too.
ive had it on the ramp at work checked all the bushes as i thought it might be the rear mount on the diff giving up under the torque reaction (twist) of the diff under hard acc. had a prybar around it and it looks fine.
ive changed the prop dohnut and center bearing last year before the engine change.... never had this viabration with the 320i in it.
any ideas anyone?? its annoying me now!!

More than likely your centre bearing is mash-up!
it sits between the 2 halfs of the prop shaft and is bolted to the shell in the transmission tunnel
if its not f*cked, it could be that its not pre-loaded correctly, if you've had it out that is?

When you changed the prop doughnut did you put the 2 halves of the prop back together exactly the way they came appart? Sounds like it could be out of balance to me.

i put it back anyoldhow but that was last year (changed the dohnut and bearing together) ive only noticed this in the last 8-7 weeks. since i put the 325i in it really come to think of it......
wouldnt the prop being out of balance only show up at high speeds, higher prop speed? not a sign of it in 3rd gear.
ill have another look at the dohnut tomorrow. as it was a gsf one. could be partly collapsing.
it seems to be a torque issue, higher torque stress in the components, in the lower gears flexing something causing something to not run true.

Sounds like Prop centre bearing. Mine does the same on hard take off's but will stop once you've reached a higher gear or ease off the accelerator. Feels like it's coming from just behind the front seats in the middle of the car (where the prop is).

had a closer look at the prop after work on the ramp. think its the dohnut...... looks like the rubber round one of the 3 bolts to the prop has ripped/torn. that'll cause the prop to run out of true!!
goddamn cheap gsf crappy dohnuts..... how much are genuine ones?

A lot of people complain about the guibo failing after a bit of abuse but i've not heard of anyone trying an uprated one.
Rear shock mounts from an E46 fit an E30 so i was wondering if anyone's tried any others. Maybe an M5 guibo, that should be able to take a bit more greif

mmmmm, was thinking on the way home about maybe powerflex or someone doing one? it is a rubbery bushy type thing after all.

Buy a genuine BMW donut and centre bearing, they will last for the rest of the time you have the car. I lunched a ECP donut and centre bearing in a week, the donut actually fell apart on the car
170,000mile BMW donut on the left, 1000 mile ECP donut on the right.. hmm

Remember it acts as a cushion so if you replace it with a stiffer version it will have a knock on effect and probably destroy the engine mounts after a while.

i hope you then launched the ecp dohnut thru their own window!

I really saw my arse with ecp and took my old one to show them. I got my money back after being asked if I had the rest of it I said you can go and fetch it off the a55 where it left my car.
ifty, I suspect your prop hasnt been put back together in the right place. There are 2 white dots one on each half of the prop, check that these are in line before you shell out any cash, it's highly likely you have broken the centre bearing you have just put on.
After my experience BMW parts seem to be the only way to go ecp quality is piss poor, I wont be buying much if anything from there anymore
