Fuel gauge acting odd...

If I accelerate hard, the needle drops to below 0 and the light will come on.

If I brake hard, the needle will climb.

Exactly the same with left and right corners - the harder I turn, the faster and further the needle swings.

Sitting on the motorway at a steady speed and no cornering and the needle shows how much fuel is in the tank!

Is this likely to be a knackered sender? Or should I be looking at the gauge itself?

Thanks :)

I'm guessing the nut on the needle behind the cluster.

As above, could be a brass nut behind the cluster that needs tightening or dodgy/loose wiring.

Really? So whip out the clocks and tighten up a nut? Hope it is that easy!

Whilst I'm here, I suppose it's easy enough to replace the bulbs while the clocks are out? The one behind the speedo has gone... Anybody know what bulbs I need? :)

Thanks for the help!

For the second time in five minutes: 3W capless. Most bulbs of this type are 5W and these must not be used, as they will melt the orange plastic covers over them.
