with regards to the m40 engine.....


what is the most likely cause of the tapping ??


is it the lifters/followers

rocker arms

cam shaft

gumbed up hydraulic lifters cause wear on the cam and followers.

so if i wanted this tapping noise to stop what would be the best parts to change

Hydraulic lifters
Camshaft (if worn)
followers (probably)

lifters are £50
camshaft is £89
followers ???

or you can just put up with the niose as it doesnt do any harm.

The tapping could also be caused by noisy injectors.

yup ive got noisy injectors is it worth replacing them as apart from that the engine is quite...???
