check the connection to the brown temp sensor on the engine. If that doesnt work, try earthing the wire to the engine and see what happens to the needle on the guage.
or it could be that the 7mm nut is loose on the back of the guage. Or the guage is faulty. Or that the wire is severed between the guage and the sensor.
