need expert advice on starting problem

when starting up from cold she fires but does idle just cuts stright out unless you give her some throttle, would this be the cold start valve or has any one else had a problem or no how to fix the thing? please

i had the same problem on my merc (cs valve)
just take it off and leave it to soak in carb cleaner or petrol for a few hours...

or buy a new one if its too far gone
