hi there.. just located a 1990 325i engine with 85k, from a crashed car..it has been removed from the car and has stood for about 4 months..think it has been turned over once a week by hand, is there anything you can recommend i do prior to fitting it or will she fire and run ok without any work???
thanks for any advice

strip and refit everything that can possibly be serviced whilst its out, e.g. clutch, waterpump, cambelt, tensioner, plugs leads gaskets etc
Engine rebuild if you're keen? Reshell bottom end, piston rings and hone etc. Head: renew valves, springs, oil seals, maybe a more sporty cam, some head work?
not sure though what you would need to do if you jsut wanted to drop it in, just check it turns ok by hand? drop some oil down the plug holes?

85k - It's virtually new! Assuming it's had reasonable servicing in its life, why on earth would you want to tear it apart?
Cambelt and water pump if you don't know the history, and it may be worth splitting the gearbox off and checking the clutch.
