Hi everyone, I posted some q's a while back and got some good responses and managed to fix some of the niggly probs I had with my Cab. I am working my way round the car tidying up the last of the nigglies.
I have a lock type thing adjacent to the main drivers door lock. Looks like some kind of chubb, deadlock. I have no key if it takes one..Can anyone enlighten me as to what it does and how I would use it.
2 Are the E30 windscreens bonded in. And where to get reasonable 2nd hand, and how much roughly.
3. Two sensors on the thermostat housing, 1 blue 1 brown..The brown one is broken just above the nut, the electrical fitment just sits in plce but I have to keep checking.., What are the blue and brown fittings and where to get replacements...
That'll do for now...Cheers..Ray

Hey
Can only help you on the windscreen problem. They are not bonded in they usually have a silver trim in the rubber and once you remove this trim the windscreen with some persuasion should come out. Took a few out for banger racin.

The 2 sensors are both temp senders. Brown one goes to the instrument cluster and the blue to the ECU.
Replacements from a dealer or GSF.
Can't remember about the windscreen .. wasn't watching when I had a new one. Think it's glued in.

1) Magnetic key thing - supposed to be the latest in security (in 1989) Do you have a red circle near the rear number plate? If you have the magnetic key, stick it in the lock, see if the light comes on under the red circle, and then the car will never start again - tempermental thing that should be left well alone.
I'll post some pictures up tommorrow (of the key) if I get time.
3) do a search - there are many old threads on the blue/brown sensors
good luck

look at page 38 of your BMW handbook... it's called an 'Acoustic-signal alarm system'. It probably sounded cool back then. The key I have with my car is exactly the same as the one on page 38, so I won't bother to do a photo!
