Switch Gear problem on E30 M3

Got a bit of an annoying problem with the indicator/headlight dip stalk on my car.

When the lights are on and I indicate right the stalk switches main beam on dazzling on-coming drivers and generally being a pain.

Anybody know what I can do about this? Is it a case of replacing the switch or is there another fix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Replace the stalk!

Take the column shroud off and check that there aren't any chaffed wires touching something they shouldn't when you move the switch.
If all OK then I think you need a new switch.
