The only petrol station near me that sells LRP is soon to run out. Nowhere else nearby sells it......... I dont really know what I can do now as I have been told that I cant convert it to unleaded. If i could does anyone know how much it would cost and how difficult it is??? What other alternatives are there.?

Cheers

Dan

If my memory serves me, all post '86 or '87 E30s will run unleaded with no adjustment needed. I don't know whether if the same for the earlier ones though. If not, the timing will need to be adjusted. Dealer would probably charge you 20quid to do it.

Who told you that you 'can't convert it to unleaded'? Buy them a pint of Optimax.

Cheers
Al

talking of petrol, went to the petrol station along time ago and put Ԛ£10 of diesel in it :x not good in a petrol engine, had to put a further Ԛ£15 od unleaded in it to water it down so to say, ran like shit at lower revs, went like shit off a shove over 3000 revs though, thats if you could see the car in the nasty smoke that came out of exhaust

There are octane booster additives, and a system called flashlube, (much used by people running certain engines on LPG), but I would agree with the others - it'll run quite happily on unleaded for many years. Just check the valve clearances from time to time, to give an early warning of any impending trouble.

Ze Germans have been building unleaded cars for years,it just took us a while to catch up.
Most early BM's all run on unleaded with no need for adjustment,my "B" reg certainly didn't,so that takes the date back to atleast 83/84.
